FIR actor Shiv Pandit to play the lead in desi Vampire Diaries

Indian television is all set to get its own version of the hit American supernatural drama - Vampire Diaries. To be directed by Bollywood director and screenwriter Milap Zaveri, the desi version of Vampire Diaries will star Shiv Pandit in the lead. A source close to the project reveals that just like the international TV series, this will be about a teenage girl falling in love with a 100-year-old vampire. Thereon, the story will change and deal with vampires, werewolves, and rebirth. “The storyline and treatment will be more conservative, catering to Indian masses. Milap has already finished shooting the pilot. The show is mounted on a grand scale with heaps of VFX,” the source says.

The TV series will be the small screen directorial debut of Milap — best known for writing the screenplay and dialogues of Heyy Baby, Masti, Grand Masti, etc. and directing Mastizaade and writing the script for episodes of the Hindi version of the TV series 24 starring Anil Kapoor.  

This will be the third desi show based on vampires, after Ekta Kapoor’s Pyaar Kii Yeh Ek Kahanii that was inspired from The Twilight Saga series and MTV Fanaah with Karan Kkundra in the lead. Shiv will be seen in a fiction show after 2011, when he appeared in two episodes of i.
