After much allegations, counter-allegations and a court battle, the public fight between John Abraham Entertainment and Prerna Arora’s KriArj Entertainment has come to a close. Their collaboration, Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran, which had become the bone of contention after JA Entertainment terminated the deal with KriArj, is back on track following an amicable truce late Friday evening and will now release on May 25.

A source privy to the legal proceedings tells us that Zee Studios remains the co-producer and presenter of the film which will be distributed in India by Puja Films (Vashu Bhagnani’s company). “There was no dispute over the Rs 5 crore that KriArj was to pay John and as per the contract terms, it will be cleared upon delivery (of the product),” says our informer, adding, “Now that things have been sorted on paper legally, they will be implemented as soon as possible, keeping the release date in mind.”

KriArj had filed criminal complaints against and took JA Entertaiment to court after the latter terminated their deal over Parmanu. John’s production house, too, filed three FIRs against the former in Khar Police Station a fortnight ago. Subsequently, the honourable court heard both parties and we hear, even reprimanded John for removing KriArj’s name and announcing the release date as May 4. Moreover, the court reportedly informed KriArj that if the film production company wanted to secure its rights in Parmanu, it should pay the entire balance amount owed to JA Entertainment that the actor and co-producer was pleading for.

KriArj was further told that it had to show its commitment to the film and its ability to spend Rs 10 crores on the film’s P&A by depositing the money in court or in an escrow account. At the end of it all, both parties were asked to resolve their issues amicably on mutual terms and work out a way to release the film.

Following the court directive, the warring producers also issued a joint statement on their truce and film’s release. At the time of going to press, their respective lawyers were in the midst of finalising the joint statement to be issued to the media.
