The recent news about Irrfan Khan’s health issue has sent shock waves in the industry. The actor, whose family has asked people not to heed to speculations, has three films lined up and has taken time off to recuperate.

Filmmakers are standing by him at this crucial hour. Says a source, “Irrfan was excited to launch the Blackmail trailer but luck had its own way. The makers had planned to have a big event to unveil the trailer but unfortunately, his illness came to the fore and that didn’t happen.”

Abhinay Deo, director of Blackmail, states, “Irrfan wants the show to go on. We had met him at his home after we heard about his health. He was clear that he wanted the film to release as per schedule. So, it’s opening in cinemas on April 6, according to the original plan. We want him to get fit soon and hope he will watch the film with us.” Producer Prernaa Arora has already announced her pet project, which stars Irrfan and Deepika Padukone and will be directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The gangster drama was initially pushed ahead after the filmmaker heard that the National Award winner was down with jaundice and Deepika was suffering from back pain. Now, it’s put on the back burner. Prernaa tells us, “Irrfan is an exceptional actor. Nothing except his health matters now.”

Another film that is in the pipeline is Akarsh Khurana’s Karwaan. The debutant director says, “Ronnie Screwvala, my producer, has been in touch with Irrfan. We are proceeding with his knowledge and approval and releasing the movie on June 1.”
