When thinking about Mohit Raina, the first question that comes to mind is, ‘You mean, that Mahadev guy, right?’ Yes of course he is the Mahadev guy but the popular TV actor has also portrayed his acting chops in other arenas – by doing web shows and TV shows like 21 Sarfarosh: Saragarhi 1897 based on the Battle of Saragarhi.

The story of the epic Battle Of Saragarhi has its versions in Bollywood movies too. Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari would explore that side and a few more actors might just work on a film based on the same incident. However that is a topic of discussion for another day.

Mohit Raina, who is all set to make his Bollywood debut with Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri, that would also see Yami Gautam in a pivotal role, was not even sure he would be approached for the role since he thought that the casting for the film was over.

When asked how he was approached for the film, Mohit exclusively told DNA the incident that led to him bagging a significant role in the Aditya Dhar directorial. He shared, “I was in Gujarat, shooting for Saraghari. I saw an article where Vicky will be heading a movie which is based on Uri attacks. One day, I got a call from the director. Since I had read that article, I thought the casting was finalized.”

He further revealed why was he approached for the and told us, “...But they had a very different plan. They wanted to give the opportunity to a new guy - to somebody who can look like an army guy and carry it well.”

For the uninitiated, Mohit was supposed to enter Bollywood back in 2008 with Mithun Chakraborty starrer Don Muthu Swami, which never saw the light of the day. Now, his debut film Uri: The Surgical Strike is all set to hit the theatres on January 11, 2019.
