He has had a very long career but it’s interesting how he has only been seen in one South Indian film and that too in a cameo. Actor Sanjay Dutt made a guest appearance in Nagarjuna’s Chandralekha, an unofficial remake of While You Were Sleeping, in 1998 that starred Isha Koppikar and Ramya Krishnan in the female leads.

And it looks like he might just make a comeback soon, if things work out as planned, and that too in a full-fledged role. Buzz is that the Hindi star has been approached to play a key role in KGF: Chapter 2, the sequel of 2018’s smashing hit flick KGF starring Kannada superstar Yash. Interestingly, this was the first time in recent years that a Kannada film managed to break commercial records across languages when it released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi.

While the shooting of the sequel is on, we have learnt that the makers decided to approach Sanjay Dutt for a key role, so as to help expand the market further across the country. The team is presently in pre-production stage, finalizing various modalities so as to have a smooth shooting process. While finalising on some new casting choices, the team felt that Sanjay would be a perfect choice to play a role that requires a performer with massive screen presence. It is yet to be seen if the actor will be willing to work in a film that will push him out of his comfort zone.

Meanwhile, the team will begin shoot in summer and is gearing up for a 2020 release. Starring Srinidhi Shetty as the female lead, KGF has music by Ravi Basrur. The first part is still running in the theatres after approximately 45 days of release and has collected a gross of over Rs 240 crore.
