Just like Zaira Wasim’s character Insia Malik in Secret Superstar secretly fulfils her dream of becoming a singer with the support of her mother, Farnaz Shetty pursued her desire to become a TV actress because her mother and she dreamt of it. Over to Farnaz...
“This is something that I haven’t shared with anyone yet. When I heard about Secret Superstar, I wanted to confess about something that I did secretively. I finished my diploma in acting, in Natyashastra, when I was 19. I was working and studying at the same time.”
“I got a few offers to act, but I had a few friends who would constantly discourage me from pursuing acting as a profession. Whenever I mentioned to them about the offers that I was receiving, they would simply ignore the topic. They always said that it was not a stable career and people struggle a lot. Though I was getting these offers, I wasn’t pursuing acting and didn’t know how to take things forward. It was my mother who motivated me to venture into theatre, finish my schooling in Natyashastra and make a career in acting.
I thought it was the right way to proceed and I kept moving ahead on that path secretly, without letting anyone except my mother know because she was the one who supported me wholeheartedly. The very first audition I gave clicked for me. , there has been no looking back for me. This is how I pursued my career in a very discreet manner. I could do it only because my mother and I dreamt of it.”
