For several TV couples — Rohan Mehra-Kanchi Singh, Abhinav Shukla-Rubina Dalaik, Bharti Singh-Harsh Limbachiyaa — this will be a special Deepavali as they will be celebrating the festival of lights for the first time together. We asked them and other popular actors about their plans for the festivities. Here’s what they had to say.

DIWALI IN CHANDIGARH

Vivek Dahiya: We are planning to go to Chandigarh this year, to celebrate Diwali with my family. I am also looking forward to meeting friends and catching up with them, which we otherwise don’t get to do since we stay in different cities. I love the whole festive vibe of Diwali and the exchanging of sweets and gifts, visiting each other’s houses, and the positive atmosphere around this time.

Divyanka Tripathi: I have already begun packing, and I am deciding what clothes to wear. My mom-in-law cooks really well, so I am feeling privileged because I will be fed really good food! This is also going to be some good saas bahu quality time for me.”

DONATING FOOD

Abhinav Shukla: Rubina will light up the house and make all the decorations. I will work as an electrician! It is that time of the year when I absolutely love doing everything I am ordered to do. Also, we both are planning to donate clothes, food and basic necessities to the needy. It is something we both believe in. This Deepavali is going to be special.

FIRST DIWALI TOGETHER

Rohan Mehra: Ever since Kanchi and I have been dating, we haven’t celebrated Diwali together as last year, I was locked up in the Bigg Boss house. This is our first Diwali together and hence, I am looking forward to spending some quality time with her as well as her family. We may even fly to Amritsar for a day or so, if I get the time off to meet and spend time with my family. I’m hoping to enjoy lots of sweets this Diwali and it will be all the more special with Kanchi by my side.

Kanchi Singh: Last year, since Rohan was locked up in the house, I had sent him gifts. We plan to stay indoors and light diyas and enjoy the festival with each other and close friends and family.

FOOD, WINE AND CARDS

Ankita Bhargava: We have a card party every year at our place. It is something Karan started and I follow it now. That’s one time of the year when the entire family and close friends get together. We don’t realise when the night turns into day. Good food and wine make the night perfect with laughter, music and lots of fun.

Karan Patel: Food, friends, wine and cards! I hope I can leave early from my shoot so that I can spend time with my folks before the evening sets in. I usually take this day to make my family feel special.

IT'S SPECIAL

Bharti Singh: Diwali ko khushiyo ka tyohaar kaha jaata hai aur iss baar meri khushi toh dugni hai kyunki isse baar Harsh mere saath hai. Along with our marriage preparations, we will celebrate Diwali. We have already done some shopping for the festival. There will be a puja at home and then we will celebrate with family and friends. It is the best and the brightest time of the year. This beautiful city is lit up and there are smiling faces all around. It feels great to catch up with old family and friends during this festive season.

AN INTIMATE DINNER

Aashka Goradia: This will be Brent’s second Diwali in India and we plan to spend time with close friends over a small, intimate dinner. We both also love spending Diwali with our godchildren as there’s a different excitement they have at this time of the year with all the colours, sweets and positivity.

KEEPING IT ECO-FRIENDLY

Keith Sequeira: Rochelle (Rao) and I are going to be in Delhi this year, for Diwali week. We will catch up with family and close friends. Since we believe in an eco-friendly Diwali, we will light some diyas, nice candles, decorate the house and gorge on some yummy festive food and sweets. We believe in making this a festival of lights, not noise!
