It has been almost a year since Guy Ritchie and Disney started the search for the lead actor and actress for 1992 hit animated movie Aladdin. They launched a global casting call in March in search of the lead cast from all around the world.
Aladdin is the story of a street kid who teams up with a genie to woo Princess Jasmine.
Ritchie and the team are looking for an actor who can both, dance and sing well. The team is looking for an actor of Middle-Eastern or Indian descent. Dev Patel and Riz Ahmed are the two names which are included in their lists and rest are new faces from all around the world, reports The Hollywood Reporter. For female lead, names like Naomi Scott of Power Rangers and Indian actress Tara Sutaria, who worked in Disney India's The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir, have made the shortlist.
However, it seems that Twitterverse has some suggestions about the star cast. The names like Priyanka Chopra, Oded Fehr, and Hrithik Roshan were being discussed.
