Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh made a mark in Bollywood with his very first film Udta Punjab, itself.

The star isn't just a favourite amongst the audience because of his good looks but also for his innocence and sinlessness.

In fact, the best thing about Diljit is that he doesn't dorn a facade, and wears his turban with a pride.

Any doubt? Here is the evidence.

When Diljit Dosanjh was asked why he has been so choosy about doing Bollywood films, he told indiatimes.com, “I don’t do many films in Bollywood because nothing substantial has been offered to me, I get offers but I feel even if I don't play this role someone else will, it won’t make a difference."

The actor further added, "Even now my most favourite directors from Bollywood have offered me films which I cannot do because they want me to do it without turban and that’s not possible. Turban is my identity, it’s my emotion.”

Diljit will next be seen in Sandeep Singh's biopic Soorma, where he plays the role of the protagonist.

The actor confessed that he was initially unsure about doing the biopic.

He told the website, “I was reluctant because I never played hockey in my life. But I was convinced because of the story. I don’t think we have ever heard a story like this in India. A man who was on wheelchair, fought back, became a captain and made a world record. I mean what kind of willpower one requires to do such a heroic thing."

Diljit also went to say that he doesn't think that a man like Sandeep will ever be born again and that he is proud to play him onscreen.

The actor admitted that he never played a sport in his life and was always interested in music, and so he never thought that he could pull off this role.

"When an actor pretends to play guitar, I feel very bad because I know he is acting. Similarly, I was skeptical whether I look good playing hockey because I have never done that. But I had to say yes because living legend Sandeep taught me the sport and everything became easy,” he added.

When asked how difficult it was for him to play Sandeep, the actor was quoted by the website as saying, “I don’t understand method acting and all, because I am not an actor. If I will exaggerate and say that I have worked very hard, it was very difficult for me and all that, then it will sound fake. In this film, story is the hero. Sandeep in real life had to go through so much of struggle which you and me can never imagine, so he is the hero, not me. If the film touches your heart than I succeed.”

Directed by Shaad Ali,  Soorma also stars Taapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi in the lead and is slated for a July 13 release.
