Every time that filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has narrated a love story, he has made sure that it is out of the box and conveys a different message each time.

The director has managed to win hearts with these compelling stories while telling us that there is no one kind of love.

And one of such films is his under-rated gems- Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer Tamasha

While the film tanked at the box office during its release, it has achieved a cult status over the years with critics loving the concept of the film and the youth relating to it.

But it isn't just the story of the film that has us intrigued. It is also the performances of Ranbir and Deepika as Ved and Tara respectively, that has our heart.

However interestingly, Deepika Padukone wasn't Imtiaz Ali's first choice for the film.

Yes, you read it right. Imtiaz had first approached Anushka Sharma for the lead character, but when she rejected the offer, the role went to Deepika.

In 2016, when Anushka was asked about this, she said, “The thing was that at the time that Tamasha came to me, for me like I told you he is very special person, I wanted that experience to be very very amazing and glorious and I told him that. I didn’t think Tamasha was that film for me. He (Imtiaz) is an honest person. You can say the truth to him. You don’t have to bull shit him at all. I told him the truth. I said see Imtiaz you know I really want to work with you but I didn’t feel like that that was the film for me. Now I’m happy. Now I am getting to do the kind of film I wanted to do with Imtiaz.”

Well, all is well that ends well!

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Anushka Sharma is gearing up for the release of her next film Zero, which also stars Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif.

The film is set to hit the screens on December 21.

Deepika Padukone, on the other hand, has taken some time off after her wedding with Ranveer Singh. She will start shooting for Meghna Gulzar's next in early 2019.
