Did Ekta Kapoor get Pahlaj Nihalani sacked from the post of CBFC Chief?

While filmmakers across India are celebrating the exit of Central Board of Film Certification's sanskaari chief, the main question is how and what got Pahlaj Nihalani finally ousted from his post. After all, he has been the most controversial CBFC chief so far, having clash of ideologies with every filmmaker. Several claimants can take the credit for Nihalani's exit six months earlier than before his term ending, including Kushan Nandy who gave a written complaint against him to the I&B Ministry, for misbehaving with producer Kiran Shroff during the screening of her film Baabumoshai Bandookbaaz. 

But according to a report by Deccan Chronicle, it's Ekta Kapoor's complaint against Pahlaj Nihalani that led to his exit. The soap queen has had a long association with Smriti Irani who in now the Information & Broadcasting Minister. Smriti and Ekta continue being friends, 17 years after her iconic role of Tulsi in soap 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi'. According to Deccan Chronicle report, " For a very long time, Ekta had been grumbling against Nihalani's high-handedness. As luck would have it, Ekta's old buddy Smriti Irani was appointed Minister of Information & Broadcasting around the same time when Lipstick Under My Burkha was taken by her for marketing and distribution. When the film was severely attacked by the CBFC, Ekta expressed her displeasure to the new I&B Minster."
