If you are an Amit Trivedi fan, by now you must be able to recognise that special synthesizer tune that makes his songs with Punjabi beats stand out. New song from Manamarziyaan -- DhyaanChand -- makes that long list of dance-worthy numbers from Shaandaar, Udta Punjab, Queen and so on.
Written by Shellee, the song is about a carefree Majnu appreciating potential Lailas. Describing their looks, their mood swings, and how they just have all the power to lift or destroy worlds.
The lyrics go -
Gull khilaaye ji, aur ittraaye ji
Mood chhovey je, chakkey chuddanndi hai ji
Nedhey na aao ji, parey ho jaao ji
Goli lag jaani hai, trigger donaali di hai ji
Mohni, mohni muratiya, tey mitthi batiyan
O itthe dekh
Dhyaan kithey DhyaanChand!
The hook of the song is bound to stick and should be perfectly acceptable when one needs to call out an absent-minded friend.
Vijay Yamla, Suhas Sawant, and composer Trivedi himself sing most of the song. Nikhita Gandhi's rap verses give the song some pace and a bit of urgency, while the dhol solo by Kukki Jogi gives it gravitas.
Gandhi raps -
Jhalli jhalli jhalli haan hai ye jhalli
apni hi dhunn me challi
Akadh mein firti kalli, Na jaaney kedhi galli
Dil ghumey aethey othey, pyaar vich khaaey gote
Aise janjaal vich sadiyaan they saal bitey

Vijay Yamla has not only given his vocal talent, he also played Tumbi, Tumba, Been, Dhadd and Bugdu. Talk of going local, eh?
Since just the lyrical version is out and graphics for it feature only Vicky Kaushal, it is safe to assume we will get to see his 'mastmaulla' character bust moves on this one.
Apart from Kaushal, the movie also features Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles.
Directed by Anurag Kashyap, Manmarziyaan is set to hit theatres on September 14.
