Anurag Basu is currently busy shooting for what is touted to be Life In A Metro sequel. The director also has another film Imli in his kitty. He was supposed to begin shooting for this film with Kangana Ranaut but the actress walked out of the project.

Post that the makers have been in search for another leading lady. The latest name to crop up is Deepika Padukone. A report on Bollywood Hungama suggests that the actress has been approached with the script and there have been positive conversations between the director and the actress.

A source told the portal, “Kangana Ranaut had walked out of filmmaker Anurag Basu’s forthcoming movie Imli citing difference in opinion. As the two of them couldn’t reunite after Gangster and Life In A Metro, the filmmaker has now approached Deepika Padukone to play the lead role in the film. As Deepika is busy with Chhapaak, the conversations between the filmmaker and the actress have been more than positive.”

Even though reports have been rife that Kangana Ranaut walked out of the film, Anurag Basu declined it by saying that she was supposed to begin shooting for Imli last November but that couldn't be possible due to reshoots for her debut directorial film Manikarnika.

Anurag then moved on to his next project and Kangana began shooting for Panga. Meanwhile Deepika Padukone too has been shooting for her upcoming movie Chhapaak alongside Vikrant Massey. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the movie is slated for January 10, 2020 release.
