If Sonam has shown the ability to nail haute couture like a pro, he offsets her with well-cut suits — a case in point being the couple’s appearance at the Armani show at the Milan Fashion Week last month. Anand’s friends maintain that he’s down-to-earth and approachable, which also mirror his personal style.
Stylist Divyak D’Souza says, “He comes across as someone who’s curious to learn. Bhane is a basic minimal fashion label, which is an extension of his personal style — tone-on-tone pairing, an assembly of tailored separates and clean and minimal with an athleisure spin. He wore a grey tailored Chinese collar shirt with trousers and looked cool. I don’t think any Bollywood actor can pull it off.”
AN INDIE CRED
A section of style observers sees him as a modern-day dapper as opposed to the classic dandy. Stylist Isha Bhansali is quick to underscore that unmistakable Indie cred in him. “A simple well-fitted shirt looks great on him. He’s not a 1920’s dapper, but very of-the-moment. He complements Sonam as she is glam, while he is stylish and they offset each other,” says Isha.
FUN AND EASY-GOING
A laid-back personality and oodles of confidence amalgamated with his incredible global exposure speak volumes about his sartorial picks. Stylist Eshaa Amiin says, “I have met him twice and he comes across as someone with his ear to the ground, quite easygoing and humble much like his style, which is fun and unpretentious. Not many men are comfortable with taller women standing next to them, but it’s not the case here. I quite like the way they work together as a couple.”
