Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor has spilled new details about his upcoming project 'Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui', starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor in the lead roles. The director gave a hint about why he picked the two actors for their roles.
For the uninformed, Ayushmann portrays the role of a cross-functional athlete in the film. He had recently shared a photo on Instagram flaunting a completely new muscular avatar - his well-built biceps.
Now, Abhishek has cleared that the character is based in Chandigarh (as the title suggests) and that it was Ayushmann's idea indeed.
Sharing a photo of Ayushmann seated on a chair in t-shirt and pants, Abhishek wrote alongside the photo, "It was @ayushmannk's idea to set the story in HIS city and what a beautiful city it is.. cant thank him enough."
Meanwhile, sharing a quote by Lisa See, Abhishek revealed why he picked Vaani for the project. Kapoor shared a picture of Vaani with her hair tied in a bun and fringes falling out.
"While she is lovely, we need to remember that her face is not what distinguishes her. Her beauty is a reflection of the virtue and talent she keeps inside" - Lisa See," he wrote alongside the photo.
The director then revealed that she chose Vaani in the role of 'Maanvi' because of the 'courage', 'sensitivity' and 'fragility'. "The #beautiful @_vaanikapoor_ is the only one who has the courage, sensitivity and fragility to be my #maanvi," he penned.
Ayushmann had previously spilled the name of the film through his Instagram post. The 36-year-old actor wrote, "Next stop: My hometown Chandigarh for the first time. Excited to be a part of Abhishek Kapoor`s delightful progressive love story #ChandigarhKareAashiqui."
Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Pragya Kapoor, the film will see Khurrana opposite 'Befikre' actor Vaani Kapoor for the first time.
