Sanjay Puran Singh also revealed that he is not planning on to revive 'Chanda Mama Door Ke' right away.
Back in 2017, late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput had announced Chanda Mama Door Ke, a film based on his favourite 'astronomy'. The actor had been roped to play the role of an astronaut in Sanjay Puran Singh directorial. For the same, SSR had undergone training at NASA's Space & Rocket Center. However, the film was put on a backburner and now after the demise of Sushant, Sanjay has announced his plans of reviving the project.
During an interaction with Mid Day, Singh stated, "The film is not shelved. I hope I will be able to translate on-screen what I have visualised in my head and put on paper. That said, I am not reviving it right away as it has not been even a year to Sushant's passing; his loss has been emotionally exhausting."
Sanjay further shared, "Whenever I make the film, it will be a tribute to Sushant. He was so attached to the script that I owe this to him. He had given a lot of inputs to the [material]."
When asked about an actor replacing Sushant, the filmmaker went on to say, "I can't think of a replacement for Sushant. Many suggested that I turn it into a web series, but I want to retain it as a film. It is meant for the big screen."
Chanda Mama Door Ke also had R Madhavan roped in for a pivotal role.
While undergoing training at NASA, Sushant had said, "For the first 18, 19 years of my life, I have been studying all these theories of (Isaac) Newton and (Albert) Einstein. Now for the very first time, I will go there and experience all these things that so far was only in my head. I will experience zero gravity for the first time and I will experience how does it feel to walk on the moon."
SSR passed away on June 14, 2020, at his residence in Mumbai.
