A huge fire broke out on the sets of Akshay Kumar starrer upcoming film Kesari in Wai district of Maharashtra. The film's unit has been shooting there for the climax and final portions of the film with Akshay Kumar. While the actor had left for the day after completing the shoot, the rest of the crew members were very much there on the sets. This mishap occurred just 10 days before the team was about to wrap the film's schedule after shooting the climax which involves the Battle of Saragarhi.

A source close to the film's unit informed that the battle scene has a few scenes amidst bomb explosions. Apparently, one such mistimed explosion took place leading to a major fire on the sets of the film.

While there were no casualties, a big part of the set where the historical drama was being shot was gutted. The shooting of the film has been put on hold for the time being. The source further added, "Though, the explosion was a massive one, not a single person from the crew was injured."

While Akshay had returned to Mumbai after shooting for his portions for the day, the leading lady of the film Parineeti Chopra is currently on a vacation in Australia. So, all the members of the cast and crew were left unscathed by the mishap. However, it isn't clear if the film's unit will be able to wrap up the remaining schedule on time since the fire caused immense damage to a large part of the set and at least 10 days of shoot remains to be completed.

The film is being jointly produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films and Azure Entertainment.
