Salman Khan's much awaited flick Tubelight hit the theatres on Friday. It's a pre Eid release and the opening day numbesr at the box office are now out.

As per reports, the movie managed to rake in about Rs 20.75 crore on day 1 at the ticket windows. Normally, this is considered a fairly good number but this one had more expectations attached to it, since it's a Salman Khan film and that too an Eid release.

The first day collections of Tubelight stand at par with Shah Rukh Khan's Raees, which released earlier this year. However, SRK's film was competing with Kaabil at the box office and had lesser screen count, when compared to that of Tubelight.

A report on Box Office India suggests that Tubelight needed to be nett at least Rs 25 crore on day 1 as previous Salman films like Kick (24.97 crore) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (26.67 crore) made more than Tubelight and both were pre Eid releases.

However, one mustn't forget that a major chunk of the actor's fans and the Muslim population are expected to take the numbers up post Monday and it's expected that Tubelight will be able to put up a decent figure post Monday. The collections on Saturday and Sunday will also be crucial for the film.
