Finally! The day every cricket fanatic in the country has been waiting for arrived with May 26 when Sachin Tendulkar's biopic Sachin: A Billion Dreams hit the theatres. The docu-drama came with a lot of expectations and hopes, considering the massive fan following of the master blaster throughout the country.

The movie opened to a figure of Rs 8.40 crore at the end day one, as tweeted by trade analyst Taran Adarsh. It was expected that the Sachin biopic will have a double figure collection by the end of the day, owing to it being a pan India film, but that didn't happen despite the fact that Sachin is a pan India hero, having fans across all ages and sections. Considering that, the opening day numbers are quite disappointing.

Though, the movie was also dubbed and released in (5 languages) Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and English languages apart from Hindi, still the first day collections are nowhere close to those of Baahubali 2, as producer Ravi Bhagchandka had predicted. Bagchandka had earlier claimed that Sachin: A Billion Dreams will shatter the records of Baahubali 2 during a media interaction.

Having said that, it is to be noted that Sachin: A Billion Dreams is not a feature film, but a docu-drama and the opening day collection of Rs 8.40 crore for a docu-drama is an achievement as well since no other documentary has ever opened to a figure like this previously, which is entirely to Sachin's credit.
