Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will interact with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) clean up marshals during the launch of songs for his upcoming film Toilet — Ek Prem Katha. A total of 20 clean up marshals, 10 men and 10 women, will be present for the function.

Recently, the BMC decided to rope in Kumar as its new brand ambassador for its campaign on an open defecation free city (ODF).

The reason for picking Kumar, according to a civic official, is his new film Toilet — Ek Prem Katha that will hit the cinema theatres on August 11. The film is based on a man's life whose wife left him on the first day of their marriage after discovering that he doesn't have a toilet in his house. The man (Kumar) sets out on a desperate mission to win her back.

A senior official attached to the project said that the civic body has also outlined some demands from the actor for promoting the civic body's initiative on making the city clean. "We have taken a number of projects for making the city clean and we want Mumbaikars to know about this," said the official. He added that Kumar would be helpful in conveying the message. Though the civic body had declared the city ODF last year, BMC has been adopting a number of ways to continue creating awareness among citizens.
