Aamir Khan is known to be a perfectonist. The Dangal actor gets into the skin of every character that he plays. From learning the dialect to undergoing physical transformation, Aamir has never failed to leave an impression with his performances.

In the list of films that the 53-year-old actor has showcased his talent in, Mangal Pandey: The Rising surely stands out. For the role, the actor had not only grew his hair and moustache but even learnt the dialect to portray the titular character.

But interestingly, Aamir was not the first choice for this period drama. Unbelievable, right? In 1995, the film (Mangal Pandey: The Rising) was started with the title Kissa Kartoos, where Sanjay Dutt played the character of Mangal Pandey, while Manisha Koirala was cast opposite him.

But later, the actor got arrested and the film was ultimately shelved. In 2004, the film was restarted as Mangal Pandey: The Rising, featuring an ensemble cast of Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji, Ameesha Patel and Kirron Kher.

The film landed in controversy due to the plot showcasing the relationship between Mangal Pandey and a prostitute. Despite the hurdle, the film garnered appreciation from the audience, was critically acclaimed and did well at the box office too.

On the work front, Sanjay Dutt has six ventures in his kitty, which makes him one of the busiest actors in the industry right now. To start with he will be next seen in Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3, which is set to hit the silver screen on July 27.

The actor is simultaneously shooting for Torbaaz, Kalank and Prasthaanam. Post that, he will start shooting for Shamshera and Panipat by the end of this year or early next year.

Aamir Khan, on the other hand, will be next seen in Thugs of Hindostan, which is set to hit the screens during the Diwali weekend on November 7.
