The much awaited trailer of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 will be unveiled in barely an hour. The Shankar directorial has been making all sorts of noise ever since it was announced. While fans have been waiting with baited breath to watch Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth together on screen for the first time, not many are aware of the fact that the director Shankar had earlier approached South superstar Kamal Haasan to play the antagonist instead of Akshay.

While we do know that it was the legendary Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger who was the first choice of the helmer to play the villain in 2.0, finally, it was Akshay who gave his nod for the role when Kamal expressed more interest in his film Indian 2.

Shankar was quoted as saying by Vikatan in an interview, "Later I thought Kamal sir will be a great choice for the role. It was my desire to see Rajini sir and Kamal sir in the same movie. Jeyamohan (2.0 dialogue writer) and I met Kamal and discussed the role. But Kamal was more interested in doing Indian 2 and so we moved on.I narrated the story to him and he was keen on playing the role. Eventually, the role was destined to go to Akshay. Or we can say, it’s for the best the role went to him.”

Well, we're so looking forward to witnessing Akshay's intriguing avatar in the film. While the teaser of 2.0 had just a few glimpses of Akshay's character, we're hoping to see more of him in the full fledged trailer. The 2.0 trailer launch event is slated to begin at 12 pm today. It will be launch at a grand event in Chennai.
