'Badlapur 2' | Varun Dhawan-starrer to have a sequel?

Back in 2015, Varun Dhawan intrigued his audience when he signed up for a dark and gritty role in Sriram Raghavan's Badlapur. But it eventually paid off as Varun’s character not only won him a lot of critical acclaim and applause from the audience but went onto become one of the biggest grossing films of the year.

Ever since the film released, the audience has been waiting for a sequel and now it seems, the makers are perhaps planning to make a sequel. As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, producer Dinesh Vijan is looking to collaborate with Sriram again for the second franchise of the revenge drama. 

A source close to the daily revealed that the Sriram, who is currently busy shooting for Shoot The Piano Player, will soon work with Dinesh to take the project ahead.  "Sriram will give Dinesh a choice of two scripts. The first is an adventure thriller while the other one is a revenge drama. The latter is on the lines of Badlapur and Dinesh wants to pitch it as Badlapur 2. But it is not a follow-up on the earlier story, this is a different plot altogether but in the same zone," added the source.

Meanwhile, we wonder if Varun will be a part of the film or not since it was reported earlier that the sequel in the making will feature Deepika Padukone as the protagonist. "Sriram usually prefers to cast for his film only after his script is ready. But yes, the makers are on the lookout for an A-lister. It's too early to confirm if Varun will be a part of the project.”, said the source.
