The trailer of Badhaai Ho, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra, which released a couple of days ago, has made a promising first impression on the trade and the public alike.

Director Amit Ravindernath Sharma’s family comedy presents an unconventional story on parental pregnancy as completely normal and laces it with hilarious one-liners.

The hysterical situations and fine performances by members of Ayushmann’s on-screen family — Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta, Surekha Sikri and Shardul Rana — have made the trailer a talking point across social media platforms.  Comments such as, “Badhaai Ho trailer is such a riot. I have always been a fan of such light-hearted films that ultimately deal with such ignored issues, super excited for this”, and “Lovely to see Ayushmann and Sanya on the big screen with some fabulous content!” have been posted by regular movie enthusiasts. The film, which releases on Dussehra, October 19, promises to be a full-on family entertainer.

Produced by Vineet Jain, Aleya Sen, Hemant Bhandari and Amit Ravindernath Sharma and co-produced by Priti Shahani in association with Chrome Pictures, Badhaai Ho is presented by Junglee Pictures, whose previous family comedy Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) was a sleeper hit, winning many hearts during its run.

Ayushmann continues his tryst with a taboo subject in this movie, too. It’s a quirky, progressive tale of a Delhi family that is taken aback when they get to know that the mother, in her late 40s, is pregnant again. The story shows how the kin, especially the elder son, is embarrassed because of his mom’s uncalled pregnancy at an older age. And, it also shows how they prepare themselves for this unexpected member.

Trade expert Komal Nahta says, “A promo that brings a smile to the face is a sure sign that the public will patronise the movie. The trailer brings smiles galore and also occasional guffaws. Junglee Pictures, it seems, has a cute little winner on hand. Maybe, the trailer itself is enough for the trade to say, ‘Badhaai Ho’ to the film’s team!”

Rajender Singh Jyala, Chief Programming Officer, INOX adds, “We have received an amazing response. The content seems to be unique and has generated a huge hype. I’m sure everyone is looking forward to the film.”
