If recent reports are to be believed then veteran actor Anupam Kher is all set to essay the role of Manmohan Singh on silver screens in a cinematic adaptation of Sanjoy Baru's book titled The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making and Unmaking of Manmohan Singh

A report in the Economic Times suggests that the movie is slated to hit theatres in December 2018, right before the next general elections in 2019. Those who're uninitiated, Baru's book was also released right at the time of the 2014 parliamentary polls. The book is critical of Manmohan Singh's first tenure as the Prime Minister.

The report further informs that the first look of the film is to be unveiled on Wednesday and the remaining cast is yet to be finalised. The screenplay of the film is reported to be written by Hansal Mehta and it is to be helmed by debutante director Vijay Ratnakar Gutte.

Confirming his role to ET, Kher said, "Acting the role of anyone in contemporary history is extremely challenging, as comparisons are bound to be instant and inevitable. But as I have always revelled in challenges, right from my first film Saaransh, I look forward to the experience of portraying PM Manmohan Singh."
