Anupam Kher extends solidarity to Kangana Ranaut after her 'gang-up' remark: She is a rockstar, I applaud her courage

Days after Kangana Ranaut called out Bollywood celebs for not supporting her latest release 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' and accused the likes of Alia Bhatt and Aamir Khan of ganging up against her, veteran actor Anupam Kher stood up for her. 

The actor recently conducted an #AskAnupam session on Twitter during which a user asked him, “nobody from bollywood is supporting Kagana’s Mankarnika movie. Can you please tweet in her support?”

The actor replied, “#KanganaRanaut is a ROCKSTAR. She is brilliant. I applaud her courage and performances. She is also the real example of #WomenEmpowerment.:).”

He is perhaps the first one among the popular faces to have come out in her support. Earlier, veteran actor-filmmaker Manoj Kumar had praised Ranaut’s performance in the film by saying that Kangana was born to play the character of Rani Laxmi Bai onscreen. 

Renowned singer Shankar Mahadevan’s son Siddharth Mahadevan also lauded the film. On his Instagram account, he shared, “At the special screening of #Manikarnika … Take a bow @team_kangana_ranaut !!! This sort of performance has never been seen in Indian Cinema. Had the honor to meet the great @sadhguru . Blessed to be a part of it.” (sic)
