Anil Kapoor-Madhuri Dixit-Nene

The last time Anil and Madhuri shared screen space was in the year 2000 for the film Pukar. The movie did average business, but got Anil a National Award. Post the movie, Madhuri, who had gotten married just a year before the release of the film moved to Denver, US. Over the years, though Madhuri returned to Mumbai and made a comeback to the movies, the two were never paired opposite each other. There was buzz that Anil wanted to cast Madhuri in his home production, but that didn’t work out. Now, 17 years after their last movie outing together, they have been signed on by director Indra Kumar, who directed them in the blockbuster hit Beta (1992). The two have been paired with each other in Total Dhamaal, the third movie of the Dhamaal franchise. This time around the ’90s romantic jodi will try their hand at comedy.

Anil Kapoor-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

The last time they starred together, she wasn’t the Bachchan bahu. Anil and Ash had already worked in Subhash Ghai’s Taal (1999) before they were paired again in Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai (2000). Like Anil and Madhuri’s jodi, they, too, will share screen space after a gap of 17 years. Their new project titled Fanney Khan is said to be a musical comedy. The film will be helmed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, who has worked with Anil’s daughter Sonam and Ash’s hubby Abhishek in Delhi 6. The director’s last venture, Anil’s son Harshvardhan’s debut movie Mirzya, didn’t work at the box office, but that didn’t deter these two talented actors from signing the project.

Amitabh Bachchan-Rishi Kapoor

Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor have shared screen space in many iconic movies like Amar Akbar Anthony, Coolie, and Naseeb to name a few. However, the last time they worked together was in the movie
Ajooba, which released in 1991. After a huge gap of 26 years, they are facing the camera again, but this time as father and son. The first look of the film created a lot of buzz on social media websites. Directed by Umesh Shukla, 102 Not Out, which is based on a Gujarati play by the same name, sees Rishi playing a 75-year-old son to 102-year-old Big B. The shoot of the movie was wrapped up recently, and fans will get to watch the two legendary actors on screen once again next year.

Sanjay Dutt-Sridevi

Sridevi, who has returned to films with two well-spaced out movies like English Vinglish and Mom will reunite with her Gumraah co-star Sanjay Dutt. Abhishek Varman, who made his directorial debut with 2 States is in talks with the two actors for a film that will be produced by Karan Johar. Interestingly, Sridevi and Sanjay Dutt’s last film together Gumrah (1993) was produced by Karan’s dad Yash Johar too. The film is touted to be a partition drama. The script of the films is said to be of great emotional value to Karan as it was his father, Yash Johar’s idea. Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Sonakshi Sinha have already been signed on for the film. With Sanjay and Sridevi joining in, this will be one multi-starrer to watch out for.

Shahid Kapoor-Imtiaz Ali

It was Jab We Met (2007) that that put Shahid into the big league. And though the movie went on to become a massive hit, Shahid and Imtiaz didn’t pair up again. Instead, Imtiaz moved on to making his next with Saif Ali Khan (Love Aaj Kal), whom he also collaborated with as a writer on Cocktail. Imtiaz then worked with Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar followed by Tamasha. Between the two films, he also directed Alia in Highway. Then it was Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma who played his Harry and Sejal. Just when it seemed that his next would star either Deepika, Anushka, Ranbir, Alia, or Shah Rukh Khan, he took almost a decade-long U-turn and instead offered Shahid his next film. The film is expected to kick-off in April, and will be followed by a schedule abroad. The hunt for the female lead is still on.

Sunny Deol and Anil Sharma

Gadar released on the same day as Lagaan in 2001. And unlike most times when one film ends up suffering in case of a clash at the box office, this time around, both movies did exceedingly well. In fact, Gadar went on to become one of the biggest hits in the history of Indian cinema. Sunny and Gadar director Anil Sharma went on to collaborate on movies like The Hero: Love story of a Spy and Apne. Their last movie together, Singh Saab The Great, didn’t create any excitement at the box office. Both, Sunny and Anil, are currently busy with the debut films of their sons, Karan and Utkarsh, respectively. However, once that is out of the way, there’s buzz that they will work together after a five-year break.
