'Always take it as a challenge to prove dad wrong in every situation': Varun Dhawan on working with father David Dhawan

Varun Dhawan will be seen in his third David Dhawan film, Coolie No 1. The actor has worked with his filmmaker father before in Main Tera Hero and Judwaa 2. Coolie No 1 is the remake of David's directorial released in the 90s which starred Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead roles. Before Varun, his dad has collaborated multiple times with Salman Khan and Govinda. During his recent visit on The Kapil Sharma Show, Varun spoke about his work experience with David.

He stated, "I ask him for the scripts." Varun went on to say, "My dad has only one thing to say ‘Jab maine Salman Khan, Govinda, Anil Kapoor ko scripts nahi dikhayi, to tujhe kyun dikhau’." Varun went on to share that Senior Dhawan is very strict with him. He shared, "I always take it as a challenge to prove dad wrong in every situation and come out with a better version of me."

Earlier, Varun had shared a video of David in which he spoke about how he juggled between shoots early in the 90s. VD captioned the video stating, "My dad's schedule for his film vs my schedule. Even with a fever while I shoot and think today was a hard day on the sets of #sd3. This is only till my dad told me how he used to shoot a double shift going up to nearly 19 or 20 hrs a day sometimes. Those days the unions were not strong enough for technicians and films needed to be made in this manner. I want to always be the hardest worker in the room and I still have a lot of catching up to do to earn that place in my home. #lovefilms."

Meanwhile, Coolie No 1 is slated to release on May 1, 2020.
