Sara Ali Khan slipped into the shoes of her on-screen character, Mukku, effortlessly, which is in complete contrast to her real-life persona
Sara Ali Khan, who makes her Bollywood debut with Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath, has her fans as well as its makers rooting for her all the way.
The 23-year-old plays Mukku, an outspoken and chirpy girl, in the tragic love story. The star kid slipped into the shoes of her on-screen character effortlessly, which is in complete contrast to her real-life persona. The actress, who makes heads turn with every appearance off-screen, is seen in a less glamorous avatar in her launch pad as she plays a priest’s daughter who leads a simple lifestyle.
Abhishek says, “Before we started shooting, when I visited Kedarnath, Sara had accompanied me. She visited Rishikesh as well as Haridwar and mingled with the locals. She met the people of Uttarakhand to understand about their lifestyle and the kind of dialect they speak. Sara understood their lingo, the area and locations even though she had never been there before. By the time we went to shoot, she was so well-versed with the place and the geography that she had become one of them.”
Talking about the debutante, co-producer Pragya Kapoor states, “Sara is a bonafide star and brings an infectious energy wherever she goes. It truly reflects in her performance and that’s the magic she brings to the film. The audience will be in for a surprise.” Backed by producers Ronnie Screwvala and Pragya Kapoor, Kedarnath is set against the backdrop of the Uttarakhand floods of 2013 and also stars Sushant Singh Rajput.
After giving a sneak peek of her performance in the teaser, Sara made viewers sit up and take notice of her in the trailer. This was followed by the songs Namo Namo, Sweetheart, Qaafirana and Jaan ’Nisaar.
Kedarnath releases on December 7.
