Alia Bhatt will reportedly be essaying the role of Ranbir Kapoor's onscreen lover in Brahmastra
Ayan Mukerji's dream project 'Brahmastra' has been in the news ever since it went on floors a few months ago. The film not just brings together Bollywood's 'it' couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt on the silver screen but also marks the director's third collaboration with his favourite muse, Ranbir. The film also stars television queen Mouni Roy and megastar Amitabh Bachchan in pivotal roles.
But, very little is known about the film's plot. All we know so far is that ‘Brahmastra’ is a fantasy adventure series which has been largely shot in Bulgaria. The film is slated to be the first in an intended trilogy. It was earlier titled 'Dragon' and was rumoured to be a remake of Hollywood's hit superhero movie 'Deadpool.'
However, the film's title was later changed to 'Brahmastra', a sanskrit term for a weapon created by Lord Brahma. Talking about the new title, the film's director Ayan Mukerji had earlier said that 'Brahmastra' resonates with the “ancient wisdom, energies and power,” sugessting that the story will be deeply rooted in India.
The film is reportedly being shot on a budget that exceeds Rs 150 crore and the makers are keen to release it in 3D. Ayan was earlier quoted saying, "It's the biggest project of my life. All my hopes are pinned on this film. I hope it becomes the biggest success. I am very excited about the cast but I hope the film gets even bigger than the cast."
An insider had earlier informed a national daily that the actors will be seen performing some high-octane action sequences in the film. And, Ranbir, who is not very fond of gyming, has started working out rigorously as he has been asked to sport a lean look. The actor is also reportedly training in different Indian martial art forms including Kalaripayattu, Varma Kalai and Huyen Langlon.
Alia Bhatt, who will most-likely be essaying the role of Ranbir's onscreen lover in this hatke superhero flick, recently shared a selfie on her Instagram story where she was seen sporting pig tails, heavily kohled eyes and thick eyebrows.
DNA had earlier informed you that the busy bee has been doing double shifts for two of her upcoming films - Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra and Abhishek Varman’s Kalank. “Alia is shooting with Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan for Brahmastra in the mornings at Mehboob Studio. From there, she heads straight to Film City to shoot her portions with Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapur for Kalank,” our source revealed.
Alia has made it a ritual of sorts to post car-selfies on her way to the sets of Kalank. The actress is normally seen without makeup in those selfies but this time we were taken for a surprise when she posted one in heavy meakeup. Considering she was coming from Brahmastra's sets, we are wondering if the actress accidentally leaked her much-guarded look from the film.
Pig tails have always been an essential part of warrior-princess looks and it wouldn't be a surprise if Alia is seen sporting them in her film as well as she is expected to perform some heavy-duty combat scenes in the film.
