Ali Fazal trains in arms and ammunition

Ali Fazal, who plays a dreaded gangster in Zoya Akhtar’s web series Mirzapur set in North India, has been working a lot on his dialect and physique to make the character relatable.

He will be seen battling with arms and ammunition. To get the right moves, the actor underwent special training in using sophisticated handguns, rifles and handmade pistols.

He’s learnt how to fire pistols and rifles and how to load cartridges and bullets correctly and quickly in case of an emergency. Ali says, “My character is raw and he learns on the job, so knowing cool postures wasn’t the goal. The training I wanted was to have the knowledge of every gun I was using, to be able to dismantle it, assemble it, and how to clean it. It’s important to know the insides when weapons are in use even if it is not shown on camera.”
