Akshay Kumar-Vidya Balan's Mission Mangal likely to record highest Sunday of 2019 beating Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh

As per reports, Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan starrer 'Mission Mangal' is heading to be the biggest Sunday of the year.

India's inspiring space film Mission Mangal was already declared a hit even before the film hit the screens. The film had recorded 12th best advance of all time in India beating the likes of Dhoom 3, Happy New Year and Gold. The film minted Rs 28.50 crore nett approx on its opening day. Mission Mangal is directed by Jagan Shakti and stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, H. G. Dattatreya, Vikram Gokhale and Sonakshi Sinha in the leading roles.

Now, the extended weekend for the film has come to an end and as per reports in Box Office India, Mission Mangal is likely to record the highest Sunday of the year. The film has headed to make a collection of Rs 27-27.50 crore nett solely on its first Sunday. Whereas Kabir Singh had collected Rs 27.25 crore nett on its first Sunday making it the best Sunday of 2019 for a Hindi film.

Meanwhile, during a recent interaction with DNA After Hrs, Vidya was asked that despite being having more female actors in the film, Mission Mangal is touted as Akshay's biggest opener. To which she stated, "Yes, but that’s because they still talk about the business of films in terms of the male actors. When people said the poster has Akshay’s face so prominently — it’s not fair because it’s about the women — I said, ‘I’m happy to use his stardom to my advantage’. You have to be practical about these things. He is the biggest star amongst all of us. And if it’s going to help us get more people into the theatre, why not?"
