Ananth Mahadevan, who has directed the sequel to his hit film Aksar, is a miffed man. He feels Aksar 2 is getting wrongly dubbed as an erotic film. “The first Aksar was about a man asking another to seduce his wife, so it automatically lent itself to being a steamy film. But Aksar 2 is not in that genre at all. It is about six people coming together and playing mind games, and then realising that things can boomerang. It is a classic suspense, old fashioned noir,” explains Ananth.

The trailer has several steamy scenes between Zarine Khan and Abhinav Shukla, which gives an adult film feel. Ananth clarifies, “Unfortunately, a couple of such shots got clubbed together in the first trailer and it feels as though there are a lot of them. Yes, there are some kisses between Zarine and Abhinav, but smooches are common in films now. There were more kisses in Lipstick Under My Burkha but you don’t call that an erotic film,” he reasons, adding that erotica doesn’t sell anymore.

Now, Ananth is all set to cut a new trailer. He says, “I don’t want to mislead the audience. I don’t want them to think there is a lot of sex and kisses in the film. I want my female audiences to come in,” he signs off.
