After Twitter blasts ban on Akshay Kumar's film Pad Man, Pakistan government has THIS explanation

While everyone is rooting for superstar Akshay Kumar dealing with a taboo subject of menstrual hygiene in Pad Man, the film has been banned in Pakistan.

The neighbouring country's Federal Censor Board (FCB) has refused to give a go ahead for the release of the R Balki-directed film, which also stars Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in pivotal roles. FCB member Ishaq Ahmed said, "We can't allow our film distributors to import films which are against our traditions and culture. This hasn't gone down well with netizens. Pakistan's decision to ban the film has been slammed by Twitterati left, right and centre. Pak women have also slammed the decision saying things like 'yes it's against our culture, women don't menstruate here' 

Ammara Ahmad, a writer from Lahore not only blasted the decision to ban Pad Man in Pak, but even accepted Pad Man challenge to lend her support for the film. 

Now the official handle of Government of Pakistan has come up with an explanation for this decision. Govt of Pak took to Twitter and wrote, "The decision to issue an NOC by the Ministry of Information Broadcasting National History and Literary Heritage is yet to be taken on the release of a foreign feature film "Padman" as the film has not yet been pre-viewed by the Central Board of Film Censors." The official statement even said, " Decision to grant NOC to Padman film will be based on merit and criteria of CBFC not vexatious, false and irresponsible political motives being created on various media platforms on the back of film. Good values are the foundation upon which we will build a prosperous."

Meanwhile, PadMan is doing well at the domestic box-office as R Balki film has crossed 23.94 crores in two days of its release.
