Taapsee Pannu, who is riding high on success post the success of Judwaa 2 with Varun Dhawan, is all geared up to play a hockey player in Shaad Ali’s Soorma. The film, based on hockey champion Sandeep Singh's life, will feature Diljit Dosanjh in the lead. Apparently, Taapsee spent a considerable amount of time prepping to get her training right to essay the role on screen.

Meanwhile, the actress has just begun the first schedule of her next film, Anurag Kashyap's Manmarziyan and now it seems, her rigorous practice for Soorma will rather come handy for Taapsee for this new role. Interestingly, Taapsee will again be seen playing the sport of hockey in Manmarziyan. Although she will not play a professional player in the film, Taapsee will be seen as a shop owner who harbours a love for the sport.

Speaking about her role, Taapsee said, “It’s very rare n uncanny that a sport I learned for a specific film carried forward in my immediate next. I learned hockey for Soorma but ended up using the skills in Manmarziyan as well. Unlike Soorma, I don’t play a professional hockey player in Manmarziyan, instead, I play a sports shop owner who sells sports goods and has learned hockey from her parents. The good part is that we saved the preparation time because of that”.

Manmarziyan also features Vicky Kaushal and Abhishek Bachchan in pivotal roles. Meanwhile, the actress will next be seen in Dil Juunglee alongside Saqib Saleem.
