Anushka Sharma's much awaited supernatural thriller film Pari has hit the theatres today and has been gathering a great response from the audience and the critics alike. If recent reports are to be believed then Pari has been banned from release in Pakistan since it propagates some non-Islamic values and anti-Muslim sentiments.

A report on The Express Tribune suggests hat the film has been banned in Pakistan as it "promotes black magic, some non-Islamic values and anti-Muslim sentiments." The censor board of Pakistan too banned Pari citing that it has objectionable scenes where verses from the Quran have ben used, shared a cinema owner while talking to Geo TV.

Geo TV also quoted a source close to the Pakistan censor board as saying, "The film not only mixed Quranic verses with Hindu chants but also portrayed Muslims in a negative light as they were shown using Quranic verses to do black magic."

The Censor Board of Pakistan further added that looks like Anushka Sharma's Pari approves of the practise of black magic which is un-Islamic. The Tribune quoted a senior member as saying, "Pari’s script, dialogues and storyline go against our Islamic values. The concepts within Islam have different ideologies about magic. This film stimulates the viewers in favour of black magic and promotes thoughts that are contradictory to our religion."

This isn't the first time that a film is getting banned in Pakistan. Only last month, Akshay Kumar's Pad Man got banned in Pakistan because it dealt with a "taboo subject".

Pari marks the third film of Anushka Sharma's home production, the other two being NH-10 and Phillauri. Pari has been directed by Prosit Roy and also stars Bengali actors Parambrata Chatterjee and Ritabhari Chakraborty.
