After debuting in the digital space with Lust Stories, Manisha Koirala will now reportedly be seen as a detective in a web series.

Says a source, “Applause Entertainment headed by Sameer Nair is planning the Indian adaptation of the US-based crime thriller series Eyewitness (2016). They have approached Manisha for the lead role in the project and she had liked the idea. Over the last few weeks, the actress met the team a few times and she has finally given her nod to it.”

Although it’s yet to be titled, the series will be directed by Chandan Arora, who has been an editor on films like Krrish 3, Ki & Ka and Pad Man. His last directorial venture was the Siddharth-starrer Striker (2010). “Currently, the team is working out the modalities with Manisha and locking her dates,” adds our source.

Eyewitness is about two young teenage boys who find love in each other, but become witness to a crime. Soon after, the murderer is after their lives. It is then that the protagonist, who’s now a sheriff but was a detective before marriage, returns to investigate the toughest case of her life.

The Sanju actress has apparently been offered this role, which has been essayed by Julianne Nicholson in the original. The shoot for the adaptation is expected to roll out in the next few months.

When After Hrs contacted Manisha, she said, “There are a few offers I’m looking into. Once I know which one I’m doing, I’ll let everyone know.”
