Legendary singer Udit Narayan's son Aditya Narayan had rammed his car into an auto rickshaw on Tuesday, thereby injuring the auto driver and the passenger. The incident took place at the Lokhandwala circle in Andheri, Mumbai. On Tuesday, Aditya Narayan expressed regret over the car accident.

An IANS report quoted him as saying, "It was an unfortunate accident… and I feel sorry for what has happened.” The report further reveals details of the accident which took place around 12:30 pm. Aditya was on his way to Andheri from his Oshiwara home in his Mercedes Benz car, when he saw the auto rickshaw approaching from the opposite direction near the Lokhandwala circle, in high speed.

He told the agency that he expected the auto to slow down at the junction, but that didn't happen. Instead, the auto took a right turn. He swerved on the left to avoid him and ended up hitting the auto rickshaw on the side, which toppled over twice.

The report further suggests that though, a large crowd had agthered on hearing the noise, but nobody offered to help, except another auto driver who agreed to take both the victims to the Kokilaben Hospital. Aditya was further quoted as saying, "I have decided to bear the full medical expenses of the injured victims, including the widow Shivekar, who is likely to be discharged today. The autorickshaw driver’s treatment is likely to continue."

In the meantime, his driver and the damaged vehicle were sent to report to the Versova police station where a complaint was lodged. Aditya was later sent to the BMC's Vooper Hospital for a blood test. Aditya's lawyer told the agency, "Aditya has done what any responsible citizen would do. The family has taken care of the injured persons and looking after their medical needs too."

Aditya further informed that he was charged under Section 337 of Motor Vehicles Act and "no other offences". He was granted bail immediately and fines around Rs 10,000. He dismissed all the other speculations in the matter.
