Actor Abhishek Bachchan, who is riding high on the success of his recent film 'The Big Bull' which released digitally, recently opened up about his career lows, bouncing back and more.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Abhishek said that it would be 'awkward' for him to complain about anything because he isn't entitled. During his interview, while mentioning that he has 'had a completely normal middle-class upbringing', and credited his mother Jaya Bachchan for it, Abhishek said that once he entered the film industry, he realised that one can only achieve something on his/her own merit and not on the basis of who his/her parents are or who he/she is married to.

Speaking with the entertainment portal in a video interview, Abhishek said, "I haven't been brought up like that. And the credit of that has to go to my mother where home was 'home'. When my father came back home from work, he wasn't this legendary iconic superstar, he was 'dad'. The atmosphere was normal. And then, when I came to the film industry I realised that you will only achieve on your own merit. It's not going to help you who your parents are, or whom you are married to."

'The Big Bull' actor also said in his interview that experiencing the coronavirus induced lockdown had changed his understanding of 'success' and that 'it doesn't matter if you're living in a mansion or a hut, as long as you can smile'.

Speaking about his wife, former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek said, "I'm always asked, 'What did you do during the lockdown?' Some people learned to cook, some people have picked up a new language... I was speaking to my wife about this, and as all wives do, they put your lives into focus and put you back on track."

Abhishek further added, "She said, 'For the first time in your life, you got to spend an entire year with your family, and your family is safe and healthy today'. And when she said that, apart from being appreciative of having such a wonderful and sensible wife, it's so true. We get to do what we love doing all day, and go home to a healthy and happy family."

For the uninformed, Abhishek, Aishwarya, their daughter Aaradhya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan had all recovered from COVID-19 last year.

Abhishek recently had also credited Aishwarya for 'training' Aaradhya on how to handle media attention.
