Watch: When Aamir Khan called 'Kaagaz' actor Pankaj Tripathi after watching his film

Pankaj Tripathi's recent outing Kaagaz is currently streaming on ZEE5. The film is directed by Satish Kaushik and produced by Salman Khan. In the film, Pankaj plays the role of a man named Bharat Lal Mritak who is dead on paper despite being alive. During the promotions of the film, Tripathi interacted with Zee News wherein he spoke at length about the recent conversation he had with Aamir Khan, his first salary and more.

When asked about his equation with people within the industry, Pankaj recalled an incident about receiving a phone call from Aamir Khan. The Mirzapur actor stated that Khan saw a film of his and called him to compliment on his extraordinary work. Interestingly, Pankaj didn't watch his own film and Aamir asked him to do the needful immediately. Tripathi stated, "Aamir Khan sir ka bhi phone aaya tha mujhe. Ek film dekhe aur phone kiye. Keh rahe the 'Tu kya hai, tu kya hai'. Phir maine kaha maine nahi dekhi woh film. To unhone kaha, 'Nahi dekhi tumne? Pehle dekho phir samjhoge main kya bol raha hoon."

In the same interview, Pankaj also disclosed that he received Rs 2000 as the first salary for a stint in a Doordarshan series. While talking about his first salary in the movies, the Ludo actor said Rs 4000 for a Kannada film.

Pankaj was also asked about his current salary, to which he said, "'Never ask a woman's age and a man's salary'. But yes, I earn enough to fill family and my stomach."
