Saif Ali Khan’s next film, a dark comedy, Kaalakaandi, releases on January 12, 2018. The film was stuck for months on end because of its explosive content. Finally, the makers have found two producers to back it, which is good for the film because it will get the window it deserves.

Saif confirms, “I am glad that we have a producer on board who had faith in our product. There was a time when the film was going to release only on digital platform but now, thankfully, it will have a theatrical release because I always felt Kaalakaandi deserves that.”

Previously, another thing that was a huge hindrance to the film was the way it was censored. It was passed only after 72 cuts. But, now, the situation has changed completely. A visibly happy Saif tells us, “Imagine a film after 72 cuts. The whole essence would be lost. But we went to FCAT (Film Certification Appellate Tribunal) and they passed it with just one cut and gave us a U/A certificate. That’s great.”
