From her first film in 1997, Rani has grown tremendously over the years. She started her career at the age of 14 with Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat and went on to bag hits like Ghulam, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Bunty aur Babli and Hichki being the latest one, which will hit the theatres on March 23..

Her stellar performances in films like Yuva, No One Killed Jessica, and Black amongst others have won her noteworthy awards. However, among the many films she has acted in, here are a few impactful yet striking roles that we love: 

1. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

She plays the role of principal's daughter, who is a transfer student from Oxford University. She is not only elegant but also sophisticated and described as the most beautiful girl in college. She falls in love with Rahul and marries him, having a daughter with him, but has always felt guilty for coming between Anjali and Rahul.

2. Black

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie and starring Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachchan was about a deaf and blind girl, and her relationship with her teacher. The film was inspired from Helen Kelle's life and struggle and was a second highest grossing Indian film worldwide in 2005 and the highest-grossing 2005 Indian film overseas.

3. No One Killed Jessica

No One Killed Jessica is based on the true story of Jessica Lal, a Delhi-based model and restaurant worker who was shot in 1999. It is said that her character is the only fictional aspect of the story.

4.  Mardaani

Mardaani was a 2014 Indian crime thriller film that dealt with the problem of human-trafficking in India. Rani played the role of a dedicated and brave police officer with Mumbai Police, that chases a Delhi-based kingpin, Karan Rastogi and hunt him down.

5. Dil Bole Hadippa

The 2009 Bollywood film directed by Anurag Singh is about a young woman who pretends to be a man to join an all-male cricket team.
