Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat has broken all box office myths to become the biggest grosser of 2018 both in India and overseas markets. The film starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in the leads, has also become the biggest all time grosser for Bhansali.

What goes to show the incredible popularity of the magnum opus at the box office is that it has been a money spinner in what is normally looked at as the 'lean period' with no holidays or long weekends. While other films have come and gone, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavaat has been going pretty strong at the ticket windows.

The movie, which faced a lot of difficulties prior to its release has been gathering amazing numbers at the ticket windows. While Padmaavat has crossed the Rs 540 crore mark in terms of its gross worldwide collections, its domestic box office collections alone stand at a whopping Rs 276.50 crore. The film was released in India in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to share the box office numbers. He wrote, "#Padmaavat continues to set the BO ablaze... Crosses ₹ 275 cr mark… [Week 4] Fri 1.75 cr, Sat 3 cr, Sun 4 cr. Total: ₹ 276.50 cr. India biz... Note: Hindi + Tamil + Telugu."

The movie is based on a poem of the same by Malik Muhammad Jayasi. With both critics and audiences loving the period drama looks like Padmavaat will break a few more box office records in the days to come. Watch this space for all the updates...
