2 Years of Neerja: Sonam Kapoor says it was an honour to play Neerja Bhanot on screen

Sonam Kapoor took to her social media accounts to pay homage to the late Neerja Bhanot, whose character she played in her 2016 film titled Neerja. As the film clocks 2 years today, the actress remembered the flight attendant who who sacrificed her life while saving the lives of 360 passengers in a Pan Am flight that was hijacked in Karachi. 

Sonam took to her Twitter account and wrote, "Even today, the heroism and bravery of Neerja Bhanot continues to move me. It was an honour to play her and pay homage to her indelible memory. #2YearsOfNeerja."

The actress was aplauded for her portrayal of the character and she went on to win a Special Mention at National Film Awards as well. The film also marked the acting debut of singer-composer Shekhar Ravjiani. Directed by Ram Madhavani, the film was appreciated by both the audience and the critics alike. 

Meanwhile, Sonam was last seen in the Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte starrer Pad Man. The actress has also kick started the shoot for her next titled Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga.
