At the press conference, Shankar clarified that 2.0 is not an extension of Enthiran. With this, all the rumours of 2.0 being a sequel to Robot were put to rest.

Rajinikanth stated that 2.0 is going to be India’s most prestigious film. He is quoted saying, “It is going to be India’s most prestigious film. It will not only attract Indian audiences but will also equally appeal to all overseas film buffs.” When Rajinikanth was quizzed about his down to earth persona that he is known for off-screen, the megastar very humbly said, “I don’t want to act off-screen because no one is paying me off-screen."

Right before the music launch, AR Rahman while talking about the music of the sci-fi thriller revealed that there are three songs in 2.0. He said, “There’re three songs in the album. When asked about his character Akshay Kumar had little to say, ” Because of my contract, I can’t reveal much. Otherwise, I’d love to tell you guys more. If I disclose anything, they will cut my remuneration.” While talking about the preparation for this role in 2.0, Akshay said, “I just learnt my lines and performed. I didn’t do any specific training. Shankar had done so much of homework, and he had already got into the skin of my character before me. So, I just had to enter into his vision and perform my role. It took me about three and a half hours to apply makeup and one and a half hours to remove the same.”A

Amy Jackson who is teaming up with Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar shared the pictures from Dubai, wrote on Twitter, " What an unbelievable day! Such an honour to be part of 2.0."
