Just two days after her song Vaddi Sharaban from De De Pyaar De released, Sunidhi Chauhan had a show. “I had not expected people to know and love the track so soon, but they were calling out to me to sing it!” she laughs. The songstress couldn’t render it as she wasn’t prepared, but she knows that it will be a big hit during her future gigs now.
The masti-bhara number, composed by Vipin Patwa and filmed on Rakul Preet Singh and Ajay Devgn, has been sung with full gusto by Sunidhi, who had a blast behind the mic. “It was about letting loose, which is how party numbers should be,” she states. The talented vocalist had also sung the melodious Lae Dooba for Rakul in last year’s Aiyaary. Seems like she’s lucky for the actress. “That song was so different from this one. I'm happy we have such a nice variety of tracks to our credit,” she smiles. Over to the vocalist...
(Laughs) I can’t help but be that way. I believe a singer should sing from their entire body, whether the song is happy or sad. When I lend my voice to a composition, I feel my whole body needs to feel what it needs to be felt and go with it. And it's crazy but it happens every time! It’s been 23 years in the industry but it still feels the same each time I record a song, I make sure I give it my all!

Honestly, it’s pretty amazing. When I’m on stage, I do a set of some of my 10-15-year-old tracks, and the response has just gotten better over the years. And that list doesn’t even include Beedi Jalaile (Omkara, 2006) and Sheila! It has Bumbro (Mission Kashmir, 2000), Ishq Samandar (Kaante, 2002), Aisa Jaadoo Dala Re (Khakee, 2003), Saki Saki (Musafir, 2004), Kaisi Paheli (Parineeta, 2005), Chor Bazari (Love Aaj Kal, 2009), Ishq Sufiyana (The Dirty Picture, 2011), the list is kind of endless. Yes, I do think I have some memorable songs (smiles).
Oh, yes! I love acting and I had the best time shooting that short film. I did get some offers after that but nothing really got me interested. I’m looking forward to something crazy and I will do it, for sure.
Yes, from the 28th day of his birth, he’s been travelling with me!
