Celebrity Column: So obvious, yaar! writes Sajid Khan

Why are things in life so obvious? Right from people’s intentions to the things they say and do, to expectations, to relationships, approvals and disapprovals. Everything and everybody is damn obvious, yaar. Nahi samjhe? Samjhata hoon, samjhata hoon...

If someone needs a favour from you, and you know that you will get a call from that someone asking you for the favour, then obviously you preset your mind for that time. Now when your friend calls, he will ask about your health, your well-being, praise your work and after two minutes of mindless chatter, ask you for the favour. It was obvious to you that his conversation would go in the same obvious way. You knew it as well as him. Why couldn’t he directly cut to the chase, you  ask? Coming to the point is one thing and making one is another. Your refusal to do your friend the favour is what was obvious to him. Otherwise, there would be no mindless chatter and he would directly come to the point. Correct? But it’s no one’s fault. The human brain and heart most of the times do the other one’s functions. Because you feel with your mind and think with your heart. This is exactly the same feeling when you are in a death-like dire situation and your feet freeze.

It is because you’re thinking with your heart and emoting with your brain. Yeh bhi samjhata hoon. If you are a woman reading this, then there is a 90 per cent obvious chance that your man is cheating or has cheated or will cheat behind your back. Your brain will obviously tell you that something is wrong because it simply is. Your heart will not let you believe your brain. So when you do find out the obvious and end the relationship, the anger within you is not so much directed towards the man as much towards yourself. The obvious statements/questions you have then are: What was I thinking? How could I be so stupid? Why did my heart tell me not to believe it? And the all-time classics: Was it my fault? Should I give him another chance? But, if you are a man reading this then obviously you know how to be unobvious. You start off with the ultimate obvious lie, ‘I love you’ and follow it with the other obvious lie, ‘I swear on your head I will never do it again’. The obvious fact for most women at the beginning of the relationship is that he is the only one and it is unobvious to her that she will end up being the lonely one. Whereas for a man, the obvious fact at the beginning of the relationship is — so this is my next ex-girlfriend.

Look around you. Everything is so obvious; not just relationships, people and intentions but also what’s happening in the nation. It is so obvious that if you rightfully call it wrong you will be wrongfully called wrong. Right? Or if you agree to disagree, then the one you agreed for will disagree to agree. Agreed? Just remember, if you split the word agreed it is a greed. You know your brain is right and your heart is wrong most of the times. But kya karein? We want them to function oppositely. After all, habits are also obvious, yaar!
