Hola Leute! (A mix of Spanish and German. Haha) I am trying to learn Spanish these days you see! So today I am gonna share some experiences with you :) When I was a newbie to this city (I feel like it was ages ago though) four and a half months ago, I wasn’t that good with the public transport like I am right now. I would say now I am an expert! Coming back, during the first week of the school we had a kind of field trip to famous sites of Berlin. I wasn’t still used to travelling alone but I wanted to give my shot on it! We were supposed to meet at Sony Centre in Potsdamer Platz (I wrote about it last time, remember?!) I left the house filled with confidence; buta little did I know what was in store for me!

To get there we gotta take bus M29 (I didn’t know this) but I went to the wrong direction -- my first mistake, yeah there is more to come. I missed my track and ended in the middle of nowhere! Then I called up my Host Mother and tried to explain to her where I was. But neither did I know where I was nor could she figure out. Then she suggested me to ask a person nearby. I saw just this one guy in a suit, I happily went to him and to my surprise he spoke English!!!!! He looked a bit confused himself at first and then tried to figure something out with his cell phone and told that the bus ahead of us went to the place I wanted to go. This was my second mistake; the bus went to the wrong direction! Can you believe it? Now that I look back I think even he would have been a newbie like me! Haha While the bus went to an unknown path (I kind of knew a slight bit of how the place looked) I tried to gather my two year old memory when my father had explained places and directions on our last visit to Berlin. Although I wasn’t that sure about it, the name of the bus stop made it clear. I got down at the next station and tried to navigate where exactly I was! The best thing about Berlin is that there are the names of the streets and famous places nearby with the distance on each and every comer in the famous places. I was 400m away from Potsdamer Platz. So I walked my way through giving directions to myself and guess what? After 20 minutes of walking I reached Sony Centre!!! Yippee!!! The first thing I did after reaching there was to pat my back. I felt proud of myself! I really did. Later, we went to the Holocaust museum. Will tell about it in a moment! Even when I lost my way I was really cool somewhere in my heart, even a bit happy because that way I could find out my own route and discover a little more of the city! And now, it is me -- yes me -- who guides people in German about routes and also with the U-Bahn. But I make sure I guide them right…:p. It feels good I can help someone especially in their native language. When I narrated the incident to my Mum and Dad back home, Dad was pretty cool just like me but my mum…don’t even ask! You know how they are. They get super tensed and hyper…sometimes it becomes difficult! A word you say that I hurt myself or something and within seconds you will be loaded with a ton of questions. Uff!
