It was not an affair as in the 'Letterman affair', but it is better to make what is clear 'very clear'.
Four interns had joined when I was the boss of a department. And, yes, I got quite close to one of them.
Soon, we were parading around in and outside office as 'boyfriend' and 'girlfriend'.
Before anything got out of hand, I informed the wife. She started by laughing. As the telephone calls increased, she squirmed. Then, the calls got longer, she got suspicious.
When she finally realised that something, indeed, was up, she cried, on my birthday.
The internship then ended but we still keep in touch. I am in a new job, but we are still close friends, very close friends. Though, let me make it crystal clear, there is nothing physical in the relationship.
I did not manipulate perks. I did not plug her stories. I did not sleep with her. I did not let my relationship with my girlfriend affect my relationship with work.
Till today, friends I have met after ages, or those who surface on Facebook, laugh at me. They think I am joking.
One very close friend threatened to throw me out of a party when I told her about my 'girlfriend'.
How can you have a girlfriend when you have a wife and two children, many wonder.
But that is the case.
Now, the wife keeps complaining and cursing about the 'girlfriend' but life goes on.
So, sorry, guys, no one can blackmail me now.
:)
Aaare, it is not a story. It is true!
Yes, like the girl who I caught staring at me at an editorial meeting. She said she loved my beard (which I then had). Needless to say, I went home that night and shaved!
Fortunately, I am not in HR!
