Dear Saikat,
I saw you voice your ludicrous views on the NDTV show 'The Social Network' this evening and I thought it prudent to write this.
As a professor at the Delhi University, I am shocked and surprised at how you make claims without any empirical evidence to back them up.
I am a pro Modi supporter, Yes, but neither am I, a corporate or a Hindu. In fact I'm of mixed parentage, my father is Parsi and mother is Catholic, and a student, not a corporate who you like to claim comprise the sole fanbase of Mr Modi.
Millions weren't killed in Gujarat. Government figures state it was around 900. And even if I had to grant you the belief that the government figures were inaccurate. I'd be hard pressed to believe, they missed the mark by more than a few hundred.
As Sadanand Dhume (@dhume01) rightly pointed out, your claims behind the Adani group pushing for Mr Modi to be made a keynote speaker seemed rather vacuous. I tried to scour the media reports to see if any such claims existed besides yours and found none.
I do hope this serves as sign of protest to your ludicrous statements. I am also quite sure, you will never be a signatory to an anti-Gandhi protest even though the party and leaders in that political party, were party to a much larger pogrom than the riots of 2001.
Good luck spreading your misinformation.
P.S Dear Kashish Gupta, the presenter for of this show, it would do your role as a presenter a great deal more, if you butted in and corrected those that spread misinformation, rather than let them go on.
